Automatic and Autonomous are different words with different definitions. Note the word automatically in your definition. We can tell this because the term "autonomous robot" is linguistically correct, which means autonomy is a subset of robotics. There is no requirement for autonomy in robotics. Remote control is by definition robotics - telerobotics to be precise. So this question is probably one of the first things i addressed doing my PhD.
